Free Adventure: The Cold Silence Within Shadows

I wanted to thank those that backed DUNGEONMOR on Kickstarter, give them something special, for free, that wasn't part of the campaign. And I wanted something that they could enjoy without it strictly being for Dungeonmor. An D20 adventure seems to fit that bill. Since not everyone is a GM, including some of the material planned for Dungeonmor's Adventure Folio also feels right. So it will have some player options, world lore, and a setting map too for character building. As it will also be usable with ShadowDark, backers can jump into the adventure and its options as they like! So What's the Adventure About? Newly christened adventurers (1st Lvl) get a lead on ancient ruins to plunder for wealth, an opportunity to really kick off their careers. As these are explored, they uncover a clue as to what the ruins are and discover an age old myth: Those Lords of the Vast Deep saw its light, human, elf, dragon, and others of the world, kindling within Them fear, jealousy, and desire. Thus these Lightless Lords fell on a Black Star, claiming Their Jagged Thrones over the world, from where They hungered and devoured. In that time the thinking creatures lost all, Their Aeons feast consuming the world, amid ruins now Their work is found. My post on The Dark Crawl gets into the approach I'll use for the adventure. Mysteries to uncover, clues and details for players to use, choices that will impact how it all unfolds. I like to avoid catastrophic choices that prevent players from succeeding. Instead, I load stakes and perks into critical choices. Clever ideas and figuring out details gives opportunities and rewards, oversights and missteps making things more progressively more difficult. And yes, while I avoid singular player decisions resulting in catastrophe, the breadcrumbs of lapsed judgement will surely get them there! Let me know if there's something you would like to see for the adventure in the comments below. What challenges and complications would make it fun? What should adventurers find, what kind of rewards should they get? Let's make an awesome adventure!
