Recently Infinite Black announced some sales which introduced folks to our free Advanced 8-Bit RPG rules, or "A8B." You can find the download for these rules at Infiniteblack.com, or click here to go directly to it. The conundrum is, those rules are part of the 1Up-Dice release, which has all the adventures and player characters. And, personally, I love all the homage covers for the adventures!

Not just because I did them... Well, not entirely...
So enthusiasts have been asking "Hey, how do you create a player character?"
Well, as I said, it's supposed to be played with the adventures and player characters given in the digital modules given out for purchasing a set of 1Up-Dice.
HOWEVER, I'll post that info here for convenience sake, along with the unreleased blank character sheet I used during that game's development. Additionally, a version of the character sheet will also be published on InfiniteBlack.com to go along with the free rules download--
A8B CHARACTER CREATION 1st level characters begin with these Ability Mods: d8, d6, d6, d4, d2 (if you've got the 1st adventure "IB1 Black Marsh" you can see that all of those characters have these.) These can be arranged among their abilities, Body, Reflexes, Mind, Perception, and Willpower, for the kind of character type they wish to play.
Next, give the character 2 skills associated with their class. For a typical sword & sorcery style RPG play, you might also create skill names for their race (i.e. Dark Vision for an elf, Toxin Resistance for a dwarf, etc.) One of these skills or specialties gets a d6 mod, the other a d4.
If going for a standard fantasy start up, you may even want to expand the number of starting skills at 1st level to 4-6. One skill would be given a d6 mod, the rest would each get a d4 mod.
Equipment: I let new characters have whatever standard adventuring gear they want, up to 12 items.
The rules for character advancement are in the A8B RPG Core Rules Codex, so you should be good from there!
